18/11/2019 - Angling results for summer 2019


Now we have the angling results for last summer. Totally 1559 fishes were angled in Litlaá river but this is insignificant change compared to last year. In lake Skjálftavatn 688 fishes were angled which is about 4% decrease from last year. In the river-lake area totally 2247 fishes were angled but in last year 2281 fishes were angled and therefore a little decrease in the total. 

Litlaá are known for big trout and arctic char and this summer was no exception. In Litlaá about 370 fishes (24%) were 60 cm or bigger and over 50 fishes (3,4%) were 70 cm or bigger and thereof six 80 cm or bigger. The biggest trout from Litlaá his summer was 90 cm angled by Sigfús Hreiðarsson during the last days of the angling season. According to conversion tables it can be estimated that the trout is about 8 kg. In lake Skjálftavatn about 170 fishes (24%) were 60 cm or bigger and 11 fishes (1,6%) 70 cm or bigger. The biggest fish from Skjálftavatn was 74 cm arctic char.

Following is an overview for the angling results in Litlaá river and lake Skjálftavatn with figures from 2010-2018 for comparison. The years have been near the average.
